Of snow and stitching and stash.

Last Fridays snowstorm dumped another 10 inches of the white stuff. I don't know about you but I am more than ready for spring and have had it with snow and cold and boots and coats. Of course while I am saying "ENOUGH ALREADY!" someone else in my house is saying "Up. Let's go. Outside and play in the snow. Yippee!!!" And telling me at 4 in the blasted morning!!!! Sigh.
Needless to say who won that round. As the photos below will show you Rory just had a fun time. And while I was out front shoveling (Yuck! Such a nasty word) he was in the backyard causing all kinds of mischief. Including finding my weed bucket and dumping all the pot of bulbs I had set in a corner. While the bucket is tough and should hold up to his antics the other pots and plants are history. Oh well. It finally tired him out so I could go inside and stitch.

Speaking of stitching. I did finish the stitching on one of my exchange pieces. No photos until it reaches its new home. Then I worked on another gift.
On Sunday I felt the need to start something for me. I wanted to do this one and thought it would be a perfect piece to stitch on Sundays during Lent. With luck I will finish it by Easter. He Is Risen, by Little House Needleworks, from the recent issue of Just Cross Stitch. I am using the recommended floss and fabric.

On Saturday after I finished shoveling the driveway I took off to my LNS to their Nashville Market Party. I was good and only bought a few patterns. (I had already ordered others at a pre-market sale.) I picked up a few new Blackbird Designs, (Valentine Manor, Bluebird and Bird in Hand) and two adorable small patterns by Hinzeit, Stitch Time and Sew What. I also picked up some fabrics that I needed. Then I headed home to do some grocery shopping. (read cat food and dog treats.)

Saturday also brought a package from my partner, Brenda, on the Lizzie Kate Exchange blog. She beautifully stitched the February Stamp Flip-it and added a few goodies. Thank you very, very much Brenda.

I want to remind you that you have until midnight this Friday, March 5th, Rory's Birthday, to enter my special giveaway in honor of my Rory's first Birthday. A 25 dollar gift certificate is up for grabs. This well be a gc for your choice of online needlework shop. Just click HERE to leave your comment telling me who your fav ONS is and why. And please leave your comment at that posting and not this one. (You can post a comment here too but for the giveaway it has to be the other posting.)

I love all the comments (94 of them!! WOW) and Birthday wishes for my pup that have been left so far. You all are such warm and caring people. I am overwhelmed at the response. Touched and pleased. Oh and Rory adores all the extra hugs, pets and kisses.

Rory is so beautiful, even when being naughty. I love the piece you chose - how appropriate for Lenten stitching.

Sorry about the snow, we just have it on the ground, it just won't go! Love the Lenten piece and a wonderful idea to stitch it on Sundays. Love to you all!

Only Rory would make a chew toy out of such a huge bucket! Your WIP looks lovely too.

Rory looks like he had an absolute blast out in the snow! But that's a mighty large chew toy! LOL I love your WIP - hadn't seen that one before. And wonderful things from Brenda!!

Happy Birthday sweet Rory and lots of pats and scratches behind the ears. Gotta just love the fur babies. Give your kitty a few pats too from me and my boy. Love your new project and such a cute exchange you received. Hope you get a break from the snow soon too.

He sure does look he was having a great time. You know, with 10" of snow, you really should have a snowblower :) Good luck on finishing your project by Easter. It looks really nice. Nice exchange, too.

silly Rory! Too cute thou!!!! He loves the snow...whatever will he do this summer?!??!?!!?
Sounds like you had a great time at the LNS. How fun!!!! Wish I lived near one that did something like that. I don't have any shops near me & the one that is closest doesn't do anything to entice customers.

You got way more than we did, (lol) on the plus side Rory is having a wonderful time. Like that new pattern "He is Risen", looks like it might be good for my church auction in April.

And so he should enjoy all the homage due him! I love these pictures - so funny. Especially the one with the bucket where he's looking oh so sweetly at you. How could you resist it? Though I have to admit, that if Montana woke me up at 4 AM, I would probably not be as nice as you!!! I'd be saying -be qu-i-et! Unfortunately, Montana has learned the art of whining, pretty effectively, I might add. Donnie has a "mother's ear" for him and he hears it every time. It cracks me up. But we all spoil our babies, don't we? We gave up on the couch - it's now Montana's...Haha
Stitching is looking great - I bought the JCS magazine just for that particular SB chart - love it!

Rory even highjacked your blog....he's covering up a picture of you stash! LOL Who would of thought that a bucket would be so much fun for him. I hope he doesn't expect this much snow every year cause we don't want it!!! Lovely exchange and I'll look forward to seeing what you gave away!

So glad you got the snow instead of us (for Rory's sake, of course). We've had an unusual lack of the white stuff this year. B'day licks from my girls.

I love seeing your pictures of Rory. My great-grandma has an Irish setter and although I don't really remember my great-gran, I remember her dog :-)
Sounds like you got some lovely stash and I like your new WIP.
Fingers crossed the snow goes and doesn't come back x

Rory certainly look like he's having a blast in all that snow. Our doggie Bella also loved the fresh fallen snow when we got our first big dump. Looks like you picked up some fun stash.

I like that LHN. I've not seen it before, but I like the colors. Have fun stitching it!

Hehehe, guess it's a good thing Rory is so darned cute. My dogs pick up buckets and bowls and carry them around too.

I'll be right over, Kathy, put the kettle on! I need a cuddle from First Dog anyway!

I just had to laugh at Rory and his antics with the bucket--he is too cute. There's a woman who walks her Irish setter in town and the kids & I always fawn over the dog. They're such a wonderful breed.

Wonderful start! I hadn't seen that JCS LHN piece before. Lovely exchange package!

Kathy you have your hands full just like I do! I'm sure Rory sees no harm in his "play". Your bulbs however are "no more" because of it! Keep smiling my friend . . . . . .

You can definitely tell by the way he plays he is still a puppy. A BIG puppy! He is just so adorable. I wish I could meet him someday. Hope the weather calms down for you soon.

Oh my Rory is big snow-a-holic! I am so tired of it & I long for spring but it is hard not to smile at his mischief.

Now how come I have never seen that LHN design?? I love that! I hope you get it stitched my Easter. Will you be at sit and stitch on the 18th? And you are not the only one sick an tired of all of the snow. Even my 10 year old has had enough, and when a kids says it, you know that you've had alot of snow! See you on the 18th!
